Regional Leadership and Development Conference (RLDC)
On a yearly basis, SHPE stages seven RLDCs (one in each region) to improve the organizational,
managerial, and technical skills of SHPE chapter leaders. These regional conferences help chapter leaders
develop and improve their programs and initiatives, the infrastructure and operation of SHPE chapters, as
well as the method of interaction and networking with SHPE’s corporate supporters. The conference usually spans the length of one weekend and provides students with a variety of helpful workshops. They range from case studies to mock interviews.

RLDC 2011
This year, SHPE University of California Santa Barbra (Los Ingenieros) is hosting region two's RLDC. "The Leader Within" is their theme, promoting that members due not need a title to be recognized as a leader. Leadership is not found within a title, rather it is found within a person. There will be big-name corporations in attendance for students to meet with and build their networking skills. Some sponsors that have already confirmed space include NASA, Eaton, and the United States Navy. The 2011 RLDC will be held April 1-3 and San Diego Mesa SHPE is allowed to bring five members to the conference. A registration deadline and price has not yet been established, but continue to check the calendar as it should be posted prior to February 1st.
